Hi Roger
Yes WSPR with its narrow bandwidth has drawn attention to small shifts be they from Doppler or poor thermal stability in rigs. Indeed when we first ventured on to 6m WSPR 'bannana' signals were reported far too often. This lead me to investigate A/S on the band. more…

Fascinating stuff. I was trying some similar experiments last week in the Perseids on 10m WSPR. There were some whispy watery traces which could have been MS or indeed aircraft reflections.
Isn't WSPR just amazing! more…

Hi Jase
Yes it looks rather better than the factory incandescent bulb.
The 1N4001 could be any rectifier diode high or low Voltage BY127 or 1N400, 1 to 7, not critical, Maplins will have something. Again the LED's are just 3mm Bright LED's in Blue, anything will do the job, no need for Ultra Bright. The 1K Ohm is merely a current limit, more…

Hi, Looks nice.
I to have the problem that you had. I have replaced the lamps one already, but these have blown again, so now the LEDs are looking good.
Can you tell me the specs of the 1N4001, 1Kohm and LEDs that you have used.
I will be paying Maplin's a visit this coming week, and hope to get my fingers cut getting to the exist more…

Crumbs you have been busy. I was breathless just reading the article and somewhat envious of the skills and test kit associated. I just wish there was the time and the space on here to get stuck into a project without having to put it all away at the end of the evening.
Makes good reading.

Hmm, is the SSD memory plug-able? You could then have a swappable O/S. I can't really see the point though when you can run from an externally added SSD I believe.

Well that is part of why I am doing this. If Ham Software 'fitted' the Eee PC and someone among the Ham owners could demonstrate it in use, my desires for one might gel.
I have now successfully compiled WSPR on 3 Linux OS and there are problems on 2 out of 3, insurmountable, probably not, a pain, yes and the Eee PC adds another level o more…

Yes, my thoughts are that solid state may just have got further without the finger burners :-)
I would like an eeePC to play with but I would want it to 'live and breath' with Ham Comms software. You only need to check the web to see the problems, I don't need 'em.

I did write a huge answer and forgot to CTRL+C it (darn) then for some reason I couldn't get it to enter.. Oh well.. Anyway it was about how we still rely on hard disks now and how in server configurations I lost count of the times I burnt myself on the SCSI drives..
I do however note a few small problems with SSD still that of them n more…

Hi Skip
Sorry for the delayed reply. we are now back in the UK and very busy getting back to normal.
Re learning, yes, sure thing. We WSPR users were blaming 'Banana drifting' signals on some folk's TX's. Then when I tried 6m they were so prevalent I sugested Aircraft Reflections. Having proved it you can then add "and the signa more…

Yes thanks for the info, its good to have it out there and searchable.
