More Scatter on 6m

by g3zjo @ 2008-06-07 - 10:45:42

G4FFC lies due East of me. The main UK Air Corridor cuts our path approximately midway. He is there on 6m so an ideal chance to experiment.

In this Capture a single aircraft crosses our path, WSPR decoded.

Early in this transmission a plane crossed the path followed by another which tracked our path closely for a long period before finally crossing and leaving. WSPR again managed to decode.

By beaming along the Corridor I tried to find an aircraft this produced a 60Hz shift caused by an approaching plane. WSPR decoded.

Tests will continue as time permits.

hi well yesterday got interested in wspr, tried it on 10mhz with a rubbish vertical terrible vswr ,needs new caps[butternut]....5w on 10mhz sorta wspr qro i think.

amazing copy on my tx but poor on rx ,must be telling me summat.

for some time i have been wanting to use my sbs-1 mode s aircraft position reporting gear to do some aircraft ref on vhf, but beacons on 4m not being many in here proved nothing.

partners are not easy to find but will do more soon i hope.......i know where the planes are circa 35k up and see em on radar scope im under the transatlantic airway [almost] with a good airway up to northern ireland too.

im sure you are aware of kinetics sbs stuff it will take the guesswork out of when the next plane comes in a good direction......trail paths also can be shown making it easy follow approaching aircraft .

this morning im on 6m wspr whilst waiting for 4m to do some magic.......being retired here in west wales enabled me to join the white noise watchers club but not sure if im completely raving mad yet!

now must read all your posts ,need to learn, think this may be the latest fun thing for me.....having come from cw ms on 2m to data mode ms on 2m , 6m then 4m ...all the many data modes on hf sure data modes have kept me going .
